So things are going well here in the UK. I was single of the week on Itunes last week and had 37,000 downloads just in the UK which broke the UK iTunes record for most downloads EVER in a week. I'm shooting music video no. 2 next month and the 1st big single drops in January followed by the album in March!! Should be an exciting new year. hope all is well in roanoke. I miss it!!! I' will be home for christmas and hopefully playing a little guitar set at mill mountain in salem on christmas eve.

RADIO PLAY!

I got my first national radio play of "as i choke," tonight in the UK. Hopefully this is the first of many!! I'm on my way back to Virginia tommorow morning for a week. Looking foward to seeing my family and friends.

So I just shot my first music video. It was quite an amazing experience. We did the video for, "as i choke." It was mainly a performance video with me on this old antique grand piano with all these lights and things around me. As I played, the room slowly came to life and these projections of chaotic images like WW2, torandoes, bombs, etc, played on the screen behind me. Should come together really nicely. Anyways, it still hasn't hit me that I've actually made a music video. It was very surreal today.

So i just got home tonight from the most amazing party. It was the album listening party for the new Outkast record. Of course i got to meet and have a good conversation with Andre and Big Boi which was quite surreal. I had my own "artist' table on this river boat at the party and then we all went up in the London eye, which is basically a giant ferris wheel in london to listen to the new album. ha. Anyways, quite an amazing night and both of the Outkast guys wished me good luck on my new record. wow. Anyways, hope all is well in Roanoke. I'll be home Aug 13-20 getting down in VA.

So I just got back from Spain. It was my first time and I was absolutely blown away. The food was incredible!!! We were doing the album cover photo shoot in the desert near a small town called Almeria. It was pretty cool shooting in the desert but it was 101 degrees and the sun was beating down on us the entire day!! Tough work but we got some great shots and had some amazing spanish food. We'll post the pictures as soon as we get some in.

So I've now crossed the 3 month mark of living in London. It's a great city but I do still miss home. Next week should be quite exciting b/c we're going to Spain to shoot the album cover photos. I've never been to Spain so it should be a great experience. Tommorow morning I"m playing a show in Liverpool. HOME OF THE BEATLES. I've always wanted to goto Liverpool and see what it is about this city that produced such amaazing talent. Anyways, the show should be about 10K people so that should be pretty fun. haha. Anyways, hope all is well in the star city.

So this week has been absolutely crazy!! I went to see roger waters play last and he performed the whole dark side of the moon album. Tonight I got to stand on the side of the stage and watch The Who play in Hyde park. Standing on the stage beside me was adam clayton from U2 and Oasis!! Quite a crazy experience. Last night I met the drummer from the red hot chili peppers and had a nice little chat w/ him as well. Anyways, things are going well in london. We're going to shoot my video in the next week or so for the first single, "as I choke." Hope all is well in VA

So I finally had my first full band show last night in Wales. The show was at a University Summer Ball which was pretty cool. The show went down well and the band sounded great. Next week we have 3 shows. On thursday we're playing the Wireless Festival w/ David Gray and KT Tunstall and then Saturday we're opening for Ronan Keating in a STADIUM!! That should be pretty exciting. Hope all is well in Beautiful Roanoke, VA!

Life has been quite insane here in London. I've done my first official photo shoot and have started rehearsing with my band. We have shows coming up in June/July playing loads of festivals. I'm supporting David Gray in Hyde Park at the Wireless Festival (50K + people). That will be nuts. We'll be shooting my video for the first single in the next few weeks getting ready to put the first single out in August. I'm missing VA quite a lot though b/c the weather here is always raining and cold. haha.

So today I got to goto the movie premier of Benchwarmers with John Heder, david spade, and rob schneider. IT was absolutely insane. All the free popcorn, candy and drinks you could imagine. haha. But the cool thing was that I got to meet Adam sandler, arnold schwartzeneger, chris rock, david spade, NAPOLEAN DYNAMITE, haha and a few more. Pretty cool experience.
Anyways, I'm ready to get back to good old Virginia b/c LA is cool but it's a whole different world out here and I'm just a kid from Virginia.

I'm sitting in RAK studios right now in Londonand we're cutting 2 tracks, in the room that Radiohead recorded ,"the Bends" and "OK computer."Also, Paul McCartney lives round the block b/c Abbey Road is down the street. He wanted to be close to Abbey road when they recorded the record. Defintely feeling the good vibe in this room. Guy is recording a Moog solo on our song, "guilty pleasure" for the record.

I've signed the deal!! I'm officially a SONY artist now. Now we will start making my record. Things are going to be crazy this entire year.
I'm cutting several tracks in Virginia w/ the Wilshires next week and then I head to LA to write for a week, and then I'm off to London to cut
2 tracks w/ Guy Chambers. After that I'm back to LA writing w/ the Matrix for a week, and then I go back to London to get settled in my flat and start promoting my record. A lot of exciting things to come. I will keep you all posted.

So I'm sitting in my hotel room in London right now writing this blog b/c I'm pretty excited right now. I've been writing w/ Guy Chambers all week having a great time, but tommorow morning at 9:30 am I'm officially going to be a SONY artist. I'm going to the office tommorow to sign my first record deal and drink champagne w/ the guys. It's been a long time coming, but I'm ready to make my run at the big leagues.

Well it has taken a long time but negotiations have finally come to a close and they are sending me the papers to sign tommorow. I'm going into the studio tommorow as well w/ the Wilshires in Charlottesville, Virginia to start cutting tracks for the record. Then next week, I head back out to the midwest for a short tour and from there I fly to London to write w/ Guy Chambers for a week. Things are really starting to pick up and I will keep you guys posted on everything.

Hey guys. So this is been a painful few weeks. The negotiating process of the record deal absolutely sucks. Lawyers tend to drag their feet and take their time when all you want is for them to agree so you can sign the deal. haha. Anyways, the deal should be finalized within the week or next week. In the meantime I'm constantly writing getting ready to make my record. I want to make a great record. One that will be remembered. I now have about 30-40 songs to pick from and I'm still going to be writing w/ other people throughout the process. There is talk that I might be working w/ Jewel and the Matrix at the end of the month. That would be amazing if it comes to fruition. Anyways, the day I sign the deal I'm going to blog about it and I will be running around Roanoke shouting it. haha take care rc

So I just got back to Virginia and it sure is great to be home. I have been on the road for a little over two weeks out in the midwest. I started in St. Louis and ended in Minnesota. The two week tour took me through Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Iowa and Minnesota. It was an interesting few weeks and I had a lot of fun. I showcased at the NACA central conference in Tulsa, OK for 1000+ college kids and had the time of my life. After the show we got to hang w/ Mr. Belding from Saved by the Bell and Rachel from Real World Austin. haha. Anyways, after that I went up to Missouri for a show in the middle of nowhere and the ground was covered w/ snow. Then, I played another show in Iowa which was a whole lot of fun. haha. Iowa is about 20 years behind the times. They don't even have a Wal-Mart. Well, once again it's great to be back in Virginia b/c being away for so long makes you really appreciate this beautiful state. Hope all is well.

So today I just came from Boston, MA and got to Albany, New York. Of course I come to the Northeast when they have the worst downpours in years. haha. Anyways, I hung out in Boston for the weekend and had a great time. Now I'm going to be heading to upstate New York to a small town called Cazenovia, New York. After being on the road for awhile and being away from Virginia, it makes you appreciate Virginia so much more. When I meet people up here in the Northeast I tell them how great Virginia is and how much they are missing out. They all tend to agree. Anyways, I will keep you guys posted on my progress of this tour. I will be home October 29th for my Roanoke Debut w/ the full band. Hope everyone can make it out.

So I've been writing like crazy in Charlottesville and last week we decided to write a song for all of the people affected by the wrath of Hurricane Katrina. Well I just got back from NYC where I played a show at The Living Room and spent 3 days writing with a few producers. After being in New York for a week I have come to the conclusion that there is absolutely no place like Virginia. It's pretty depressing in New York b/c everyone is always in a hurry and you can never see the sun b/c the buildings are too tall. Anyways, I consider myself lucky to live in Virginia. I am playing a show at Hollins College this Saturday at 9pm to benefit the victims of the Hurricane. I hope you can all make it out to this show.

Hey everyone,
So it was a busy few days playing shows in Harrisonburg and Lynchburg, VA. First I played with Matt Nathanson at JMU. I got the chance to hang with Matt after the show and we talked for awhile about his experience with record labels, etc. He is a cool guy and I'm going to keep in touch with him. The next night I played at Randolph Macon Women's college in Lynchburg, VA. This was quite the experience playing for a room full of screaming girls who rarely see guys at their school. When we walked around the campus everyone would give us weird looks b/c we were men and we weren't supposed to be at their school. Anyways, the next night I played in Harrisonburg again at a local club. The show was cool and we played with a band from DC called Down Dexter who rocked the house. I will keep you posted on the record label process.

First of all , my name is Ross Copperman and I was born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia. I graduated from Glenvar High school and just finished college at James Madison University. I have been on the road touring and writing songs for the past 2 years. Things have gone very well and now I am finally at the point where I have built it up enough that I am ready for a major label to take the reins and push this over the top. The past few weeks I have been showcasing for all of the major labels in NYC and LA. It was probably the coolest two weeks of my life. My band and I just got back from LA where we showcased for Warner Brothers and Capitol Records. My head has been spinning lately but I've learned that you've got to sit back every now and then and just enjoy everything. I will keep you posted on my progress.
